If the kiddies tire of trooping around the medieval monuments of Bruges, their spirits will revive with a visit to the Winterfoor, one of the city's fantastic winter funfairs. It is held in the city's two major squares: Simon Stevinplein and Jan van Eyckplein.
The fair offers the usual winning combination of carnival rides, sugary snacks and that Belgian speciality, chips with mayonnaise. Fine Belgian beers and mussels should also help give the fair a little extra flair.
Please note: The funfairs are closed on New Year's Day.
