Located in the heart of Antwerp's über-trendy fashion district, ModeNatie is a unique concept housing the Flanders Fashion Institute, the Fashion Museum, the renowned Fashion Academy, a café and a bookstore dedicated to, you guessed it, fashion.
But ModeNatie is more than the sum of its parts; the Academy sees the emergence of generation upon generation of new designers, following a tradition which started with the Antwerp Six in the 1980s (among them Dries van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester and Walter Van Beirendonck).
The most successful graduates know they have arrived when they set up shop in this buzzing area, and it is also where Antwerp's fashionistas and international fashion magazine editors congregate for inspiration over a low-fat-dressing-on-the-side salad.
