The Grote Markt (Market Square) in the centre of Mechelen hosts a three-day Christmas market every December. Visitors can stock up on decorations and sip some glühwein under the Christmas tree.
There are carol concerts in the evening, while stalls sell special Christmas foods, records, books, clothes, antiques and more. The large square by Europe's tallest Gothic church is always packed, so don't miss out on the festive atmosphere if you're nearby.
