The collections of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent and the Groeninge Museum in Bruges have come together to form the Flemish Art Collection. The partnership aims to increase accessibility to the collections, while allowing each museum to maintain its individuality and local ties, and to improve the conservation and promotion of Flemish masterpieces. Here, the Antwerp museum plays host to a collection of drawings on loan from the Ghent venue.

Together, the collections represent a comprehensive picture of fine arts in the Southern Netherlands from the 15th century up to the present day. Made up of over 6500 paintings and 40,000 drawings, visitors can explore over 500 years of art history showcased in at least 12 exhibitions a year.

Located in the middle of the trendy Zuid district of Antwerp, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts (Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, or KMSKA) is home to a superb collection of Baroque art works by Rubens, Anthony van Dyck and Jacob Jordaens, as well as 19th century and modernist paintings by the likes of James Ensor and Rik Wouters.

To emphasise the collaboration of the three museums and to celebrate the reopening of Fine Arts museum in Ghent, the KMSKA has chosen to exhibit a selection of drawings from the Ghent print gallery.

This creates a link between the museums' 20th-century paintings, with Expressionist and abstract works by Frits Van den Berghe, Jean Brusselmans and Victor Servranckx. A perfect opportunity for visitors to discover familiar works within new surroundings and fall under their spell afresh.

A Combiticket, which gives you access to the permanent collection of all three museums and is valid for three years, is available for €12, and can be purchased at the information desks in any of the museums.
