Bruges' Cinema Novo film festival presents new films from Africa, Asia and Latin America. Premières, shorts and features are screened in art house cinema the Lumière and the Liberty.
The festival also invites a number of filmmakers to Bruges to present their work. New classics of world film such as City of God and Y tu Mama Tambien are shown along with premières, among which is the not-be-missed XXY, Lucia Puenzo's delicate coming-of-age portrait which won both the Critics Week Grand Prize and the Golden Rail award in Cannes.
