Al Jasra Village offers interesting cultural insights via the 100-year-old Al Jasra House where Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa was born, and the Handicraft Centre, where you can watch craftsmen making boats and weaving cloth and baskets.
Beit Al Jasra was built by Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa in 1907. Shaikh Sulman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, ruler from 1942 to 1961, used the house and Shaikh Isa bin Sulman Al-Khalifa was born here in 1933. Its architectural style was developed to provide comfortable living conditions in the hot climate of Bahrain, with thick walls insulating the rooms from the heat.
The Summer Room (Al Ghrfa) on the upper floor takes advantage of summer breezes in the same way as the traditional windtower. The wooden shutters allow the breezes to circulate through the room, and each room has small openings at floor level to ventilate and circulate the air.
