The Bahamas is famed throughout the Caribbean for its food. Talented chefs conjure delightful dishes as testimony to their prowess during this gastronomic event in Nassau.
The Culinary Classic draws top chefs from hotels on all the major islands of the Bahamas. Though guaranteed to be fun, the event maintains a competitive edge as the chefs compete in teams comprising eight or nine members in a variety of categories. These include the mystery basket segment, where each team is presented with a basket of ingredients from which they have to create a four-course meal.
One aim of the Culinary Classic is to encourage the use of indigenous food by chefs on the island. As such, one is sure to witness the creation of several seafood dishes, especially those with conches, a popular Caribbean shellfish.
