Perched high above Innsbruck, the sublime 16th-century Schloss Ambras was once the playground of Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria. The palace now shelters a clutch of royal treasures in its opulent halls and galleries.
Step inside to marvel at the Wunderkammer's coral and ivory artefacts, masterpieces by Velázquez and Van Dyck in the Habsburg Portrait Gallery and the Renaissance Spanische Saal's intricate wood-carved ceiling.
