Don a pair of leather shorts and head to the tiny town of Windischgarsten for the Lederhosen Festival. If you seem to have misplaced yours, then just enjoy a beer and find out who'll be crowned Miss Lederhose.

The sartorial event takes place around a massive market fair and forms part of the wider Windischgarstner Kultursommer (Windischgarstner Summer of Culture). Prizes are awarded for the largest group in lederhosen, the most original pair and - starting young - for children in lederhosen. It may appear weird to visitors, but there is a lot of fun to be had during the event - not least in discovering the local culture.

You will have to find out on your own the well-kept local secret of the thematic association between the Volkswagen Beetle and lederhosen (if you discover it, please let us know). Anyway, an international meeting of the bug-like car is held at the festival and visitors can admire a colourful display of these driving legends.
