Obertauern has every reason to celebrate the beginning of the winter sport season with its International Ski Countdown. One of Austria's most popular resorts, it regularly bustles with skiers and snowboarders who party until the snow-bars close for the night.
The Beatles had fun here when they shot their film, Help, and you will certainly enjoy yourself as well. The crowds in these early days of the new season are young, cheerful and know how to enjoy themselves!
From a gigantic snow-bar and fireworks to an open-air festival and large disco run by one of Austria's most famous radio stations, the Countdown is not the time to contemplate the ecological consequences of winter sport - it's the time to party and inaugurate six months of brilliant skiing and snowboarding in the resort.
