First held in 1987, the Australian leg of the World Harmony Run (formerly Peace Run) takes on a mammoth challenge in 2008. Between them, the 16 members of the relay team cover the country's entire circumference in over 100 days.
Starting and finishing in Brisbane, the route is over 15,000km long, passing through Sydney, Hobart, Perth and Darwin. Rather than a baton, runners pass a flaming torch, which symbolises their quest for peace on Earth.
