Mention Bathurst in Australia and people will immediately associate it with motor racing, particularly October's V8 Supercar 1000. The Super Cheap Auto 1000 Bathurst at Mt Panorama is the tenth round of 15 in Australia's premier endurance motorsport event.
This four-day fuel-injected festival of automobile endurance culminates on Sunday with over six hours and 161 laps of high-speed thrills and spills. Every day has an adrenalin-charged programme of on-track action including practice and qualifying laps and a Top 10 Shootout on Saturday. Add in the near misses of the Hyundai Precision Driving Team and the aerial acrobatics of motorcycle stunt shows and you will be exhausted just watching.
Bathurst is the ultimate V8 endurance race, where the 150,000 fanatics perched on every corner of the testing Mount Panorama track are joined by over 2.5 million Australians watching on television as the drivers push their machines to the very limit to claim the crown as the driver that has tamed "the Mountain"!
