Moreton Bay Family Fishing Challenge
When: 7 - 9 Jun 2008 (annual)
Where: Redland Bay
Held over the Queen's Official Birthday Weekend, the Moreton Bay and Offshore Family Fishing Challenge is an annual fishing competition open to all ages and a great family fun day out.

After the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002 the event became even bigger with a total prize pool of over A$100,000, offering prizes of up to A$1000 each in five categories - bream, snapper, whiting, pearl peach and pelagic - with smaller prizes for the other categories.

Apart from banned fishing areas of the Moreton Bay Marine Park, participants can fish in all rivers, creeks and waterways feeding into Moreton Bay, from Caloundra in the north to the Nerang River in the south, as well as all bay and offshore waters between these two points.

The competition is widely recognised as one of the premier fishing events on the East Coast of Australia. Those with a passion for angling should make their way to Redland Bay and register before the official opening and briefing on the first evening.
