Witness traditional forms of rural labour at the Jondaryan Woolshed Australian Heritage Festival, a nine-day event during which over 4000 sheep are shorn! There is also a Grand Parade, as well as Sheep and Farm Dog Trials at the weekends.
Each year there is a theme, such as 2007's Wool, Wheels and Work, revealed by the festival website a the event approaches. There is also an emphasis on Aboriginal heritage, with bush tucker, art, didgeridoo and dancing displays.
The first festival was held back in 1975 as a fundraiser. The event includes sheep shearing demonstrations and displays, spinning, weaving, wool crafts and produce, bullock teams, whipmaking, harness making, leatherwork, horse teams, horse-drawn ploughing, horse-drawn rides, steam engines, steam rollers, sawmilling, shingle splitting, timberworking, old tractors, hot-air engines, stationary engines, vintage trucks and cars, blacksmithing, sheepdog trials, swaggies, bush characters, cheese-making, beekeeping, billy tea and damper, and entertainment including bush poetry.
