First held in 1992, the annual Brisbane International Film Festival showcases the finest in world cinema through lectures, screenings and workshops, with a particular focus on Asia Pacific and Australian films.

Around 200 films are screened at three venues across the city. For 2008 the three chosen festival venues are The Regent Cinema on Queen Street, Palace Centro Cinema in The Valley and the Australian Cinémathèque at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art.

Full details of this year's programme are released on the festival website in June.
