For three nights Recoleta Wine Tour Urbano takes over the street of Arenales, between Montevideo and Cerrito, in the opulent neighbourhood of Recoleta.
The soirée repeats itself on three separate evenings, always on the third Friday in March, April and May. Each block is sponsored by a different wine-producing state and some of the nearby restaurants offer special menus (as always an abundance of top notch steak) to mark the occasion.
With a prepaid ticket evening strollers can sample various high quality Argentinian wines, although beware of knocking back too much as drunkeness is a social faux pas amongst the stylish porteños. Tickets can be purchased from the Ticketek website.
