Not just regaling visitors with Antigua's recent, colonial and post-colonial past, but including fossil and coral exhibits some 34 million years old, the Museum of Antigua & Barbuda is a must for anyone wanting to get a grip with the islands. Get your hands messy by squeezing cassava through a grass sieve (matapi) in the traditional way. Find out about the sugar plantations on the island, see a replica of a wattle-and-daub house, a real Arawak canoe and even the island's 1920s telephone exchange! The story comes up to date with the islands' independence in 1981.
